Job Description
Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Digital Signal Processing Engineer to develop advanced algorithms and architectures for defense and aerospace systems within our Engineering & Design Department. You will design, simulate, and implement DSP solutions for radar, communications, and electronic warfare using tools such as MATLAB, Python, and C/C++, transitioning concepts to embedded and software-defined radio platforms. Collaborating in APL’s mission-driven, research-focused culture, you’ll tackle complex national security and space challenges, with strong support for innovation, graduate education, and professional growth in a diverse, inclusive, and ethical environment.
Design and implement advanced DSP algorithms for radar, communications, and EW systems in defense and aerospace applications.
Simulate, prototype, and analyze signal processing architectures using MATLAB, Python, and related tools.
Transition algorithms to real-time software/firmware implementations on embedded and SDR platforms.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and design to integrate DSP solutions into larger systems.
Document designs, analyses, and results; present findings to sponsors and technical stakeholders.
Support experimentation, field tests, and data analysis to validate and refine algorithms.
Contribute to innovative research, publications, and proposals aligned with APL’s mission-driven programs.
