Job Description
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an Interventional Rad Tech to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you’ll perform interventional radiologic procedures, assist physicians in complex imaging-guided interventions, ensure patient safety, and operate advanced imaging equipment. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary care team, provide patient education and support, and maintain accurate documentation. Prepare interventional radiology procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies according to protocol and physician preference
Verify patient identity, review clinical histories, obtain necessary documentation, and confirm procedural consents
Position patients and operate fluoroscopy and associated imaging equipment to provide high-quality, real-time images during interventional procedures
Maintain a sterile field, assist with device preparation, contrast administration per protocol, and specimen handling
Monitor patient status, comfort, and safety throughout procedures in collaboration with physicians and nurses
Apply radiation safety principles for patients, staff, and self, including appropriate shielding, collimation, and dose monitoring
Document procedures, imaging data, supplies used, and radiation dose accurately in the electronic medical record and imaging systems
Participate in on-call and rotating shifts to support urgent and emergent interventional cases
Perform routine equipment checks, troubleshoot basic technical issues, and coordinate maintenance as needed
Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to optimize workflow, throughput, and patient experience
Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and continuing education activities to maintain competencies and support departmental goals
Provide clear education and instructions to patients and families before and after procedures
Interventional radiology procedures and protocols
Operation of fluoroscopy and digital angiography systems
Radiation safety and dose optimization
Sterile technique and infection prevention
Vascular anatomy and cross-sectional imaging knowledge
Patient positioning and immobilization for interventional procedures
Contrast media handling and injection protocols (within scope)
Hemodynamic awareness and patient monitoring support
Use of PACS and RIS/EHR systems
Radiologic image quality assessment and troubleshooting
Radiation protection for patients and staff
Basic life support and emergency response support
Communication with physicians, nurses, and patients
Time management in a high-acuity environment
Critical thinking and problem-solving during complex procedures

Current ARRT certification in Radiography
Post-primary ARRT certification in Vascular-Interventional (VI), Cardiac-Interventional (CI), or Interventional Radiography preferred
Valid state of Georgia Radiologic Technologist license or eligibility
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
Compliance with continuing education requirements for licensure and ARRT
