MidState Medical Center seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Oncology Department. The RN will provide compassionate, evidence-based care, including assessments, chemo administration, and symptom management for oncology patients. Responsibilities include coordinating care plans with the interdisciplinary team, educating patients and families, and maintaining accurate EMR documentation. Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients, including assessments, medication administration, and symptom management
Coordinate and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and ongoing self-care
Monitor and document patient status, treatment responses, and changes in condition in the EMR
Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects
Precept and mentor new staff and support ongoing professional development
Advocate for patient-centered care, comfort, and psychosocial support
Oncology nursing
IV therapy and central line management
Chemotherapy administration and safety
Patient assessment and triage
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation
Pain and symptom management
Patient and family education
Care planning and coordination
Infection control practices
Oncology emergency recognition (e.g., neutropenic fever, TLS)
