Senior Financial Accountant - Remote

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the company's financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, performing general ledger reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP), excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will also be involved in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing key insights to support strategic decision-making. Collaboration with internal and external auditors, as well as other departments, will be a significant aspect of this role. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess exceptional organizational and time management skills to thrive in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for significant deviations from budget or prior periods.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Stay current with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on financial reporting and general ledger management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) is a plus.
  • Experience working in a remote-first environment is preferred.
