Senior Financial Accountant - Remote First

Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote, permanent position, offering the flexibility and autonomy to manage your workload from anywhere in the United States. As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing general ledger functions, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and a proven ability to apply them in complex scenarios. You will also be involved in budget forecasting, variance analysis, and the development and implementation of internal controls. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with various departments to gather financial data and provide insightful reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and sub-ledger maintenance.
  • Lead and participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Conduct thorough variance analysis, investigating discrepancies and providing explanations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings and support external audits.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard assets.
  • Provide financial support and analysis to operational departments.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong background in financial reporting and general ledger management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
