Field Service Technician - Remote

Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join their fully remote team. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex equipment and systems at various customer sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional on-site service. This role requires travel to customer locations, but administrative and support functions are managed remotely, offering a unique blend of field work and remote operational support.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs on sophisticated machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical documentation to identify root causes of problems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to understand issues, provide updates, and explain solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
  • Order and manage inventory of spare parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company protocols during on-site work.
  • Provide training and guidance to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with remote engineering and support teams to resolve challenging technical problems.
  • Manage travel logistics and schedule service calls efficiently.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service and timely resolutions.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling services or equipment upgrades where appropriate.
  • Stay current with product updates, technical specifications, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or vocational training in a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar technical role.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based role.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer sites as required.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and mobile devices for reporting.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Experience with (Specific equipment/industry, e.g., industrial automation, medical devices) is a strong plus.
