Our client is a leading automotive service provider seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join our fully remote technical support team. This pivotal role involves providing expert remote assistance to a network of automotive repair shops and technicians, diagnosing complex vehicle issues, and guiding them through repair procedures. You will leverage advanced diagnostic tools, technical documentation, and your extensive knowledge of automotive systems to solve challenging problems. - Provide remote technical support and expert diagnostics for a wide range of vehicle makes and models to field technicians.
- Analyze vehicle diagnostic data, scan tool reports, and customer-reported symptoms to identify root causes of complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Guide technicians through diagnostic procedures, repair processes, and the use of specialized tools and equipment.
- Research and interpret technical service bulletins (TSBs), repair manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to engine performance, emissions, braking systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and other vehicle components.
- Maintain accurate records of all remote support interactions, diagnostic findings, and recommended solutions.
- Stay current with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with the engineering and product development teams to provide feedback on product performance and identify potential improvements.
- Develop and contribute to the creation of technical documentation, training materials, and best practice guides.
- Assist in the escalation of complex unresolved issues to higher levels of support or engineering.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing timely, accurate, and effective technical assistance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology or a related field is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, with a strong emphasis on advanced diagnostics and complex problem-solving.
- ASE certifications (Master Technician preferred) across various automotive systems (e.g., A1-A8, L1, L2, G1).
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electronic systems, engine management, CAN bus communication, and diagnostic scan tools (e.g., Snap-on, Autel, dealership-specific tools).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and service information systems.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical information to varying audiences.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity in a fully remote setting.
- Experience with remote diagnostic platforms and tools is a significant advantage.
