Senior Production Engineer - Remote Automation Specialist

Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Production Engineer to join our innovative team. This is a fully remote, critical role focused on the design, implementation, and optimization of automated production systems. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality through cutting-edge automation technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and deployment of new automated manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, quality) to integrate automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including P&IDs, equipment manuals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry best practices.
  • Provide remote technical support and training to manufacturing sites as needed.
  • Manage automation projects from conception through to successful implementation, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Optimize existing automated systems for improved performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement culture within the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in production engineering, with a strong focus on automation.
  • Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design and system layout.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics, and material handling systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for critical on-site support or project kickoff meetings if required (less than 10%).
