Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote Senior Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Automation to join their global manufacturing operations team. This is a critical role focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety across production facilities. As a remote team member, you will collaborate closely with on-site engineers, operations managers, and external vendors to drive manufacturing excellence.

- Design, develop, and implement state-of-the-art automation solutions, including robotics, PLCs, HMI systems, and SCADA systems for manufacturing processes.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of new automation technologies and equipment to meet production goals and cost targets.
- Develop technical specifications, functional designs, and project plans for automation projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of automated equipment and systems, ensuring successful integration into existing production lines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to automation hardware, software, and control systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including P&IDs, electrical schematics, control logic, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.
- Implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies for automated equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Conduct process improvement initiatives, leveraging automation to reduce waste, increase throughput, and improve product quality.
- Train and mentor plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of automated systems.
- Stay current with industry advancements in automation, robotics, IIoT, and smart manufacturing technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a strong focus on automation and control systems.
- Proven expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA development, and robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
- Experience with CAD software for electrical and mechanical design.
- Strong understanding of industrial networks, sensor technologies, and data acquisition systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex automation projects from conception to completion.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams in a remote setting.
- Experience in developing and implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is highly desirable.
- Flexibility to travel occasionally (estimated 10-20%) to various manufacturing sites as needed.
