Remote Network Security Engineer

Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Network Security Engineer to join their elite cybersecurity team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the US. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust network security solutions to protect the organization's critical infrastructure and sensitive data. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating threats, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our network. Key responsibilities include developing and enforcing security policies and procedures, configuring and maintaining firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and other security technologies. You will conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments to proactively identify and address potential weaknesses. This role also involves monitoring network traffic for suspicious activity, responding to security incidents, and leading the forensic investigation of breaches. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of network protocols, common attack vectors, and modern cybersecurity best practices. Certification such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or equivalent is highly desirable. You must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work autonomously, and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to protect the organization's network and data.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
  • Monitor network traffic and security logs for anomalous activity and potential threats.
  • Respond to security incidents, investigate breaches, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all network operations and system designs.
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
  • Provide expert guidance on network security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain network security documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
  • Participate in security awareness training for employees.
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in network security engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with various security technologies such as firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco), IDS/IPS, SIEM solutions, and VPNs.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CCNA Security are highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
