Remote Logistics & Fleet Operations Manager

Our client, a leading national logistics and supply chain solutions provider, is seeking an experienced and highly organized Remote Logistics & Fleet Operations Manager. This is a fully remote position, allowing the successful candidate to manage operations from anywhere within the US. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily fleet operations, optimizing delivery routes, ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, and driving efficiency across the logistics network. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex transportation and fleet operations in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of a large commercial fleet, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop, implement, and refine efficient routing and scheduling strategies to minimize mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
• Monitor fleet performance metrics, including on-time delivery rates, vehicle maintenance schedules, fuel efficiency, and driver productivity.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS), DOT requirements, and safety standards.
• Manage relationships with third-party carriers, vendors, and maintenance providers to ensure seamless operations and cost control.
• Implement and utilize advanced logistics software and telematics systems for real-time tracking, monitoring, and performance analysis.
• Lead and mentor a team of remote dispatchers, fleet coordinators, and drivers, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
• Develop and manage the fleet operations budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Oversee the vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and disposal processes to ensure a safe and reliable fleet.
• Respond effectively to operational disruptions, implementing contingency plans to minimize impact on service levels.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to direct reports.
• Champion safety initiatives and ensure all fleet operations adhere to the highest safety standards.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders across various departments, including sales, customer service, and warehouse operations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation management, or fleet operations, with a significant portion in a supervisory or management role.
• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations (DOT, FMCSA), safety standards, and best practices in fleet management.
• Proven experience with routing and scheduling software, GPS tracking systems, and fleet management software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills, particularly in a remote work setting.
• Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management.
• Experience managing a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote environment.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges.
