Senior Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Systems (Remote)

Our client is a rapidly growing technology firm seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in Thermal Systems. This role is designed for a remote-first professional, allowing you to contribute your talents from anywhere within the US. You will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of advanced thermal management solutions for our cutting-edge products. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer principles, and possesses a strong track record of innovation in product development.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of complex thermal management systems for electronic devices and systems.
  • Perform detailed thermal analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools to predict and optimize performance.
  • Create and validate component and system-level thermal models and simulations.
  • Develop design specifications, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, product managers, and manufacturing engineers, in a virtual environment.
  • Oversee the fabrication, testing, and validation of prototypes and production units.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to challenging thermal problems, ensuring optimal product performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot thermal-related issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Document design processes, test results, and technical findings thoroughly.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and methodologies.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of results in a remote setting.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a strong emphasis on thermal sciences.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a specialization in thermal engineering.
  • Proficiency with CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL) and FEA tools.
  • Solid understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with various cooling technologies (e.g., heat sinks, fans, heat pipes, liquid cooling).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design projects and deliver results in a remote or hybrid work environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for remote teamwork.
  • Experience with product development lifecycles (from concept to production).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
