Key responsibilities include performing detailed stress analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic simulations; developing robust and manufacturable designs; selecting appropriate materials; and creating comprehensive manufacturing drawings and documentation. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to setting technical direction within the team. - Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for robotic applications.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo).
- Perform advanced engineering analyses, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, and vibration; and dynamic simulations.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design requirements and cost considerations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (electrical engineering, software development, manufacturing).
- Develop and execute rigorous validation and verification plans for mechanical designs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical design issues throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.
- Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering, materials science, and robotics technologies.
- Develop technical specifications and documentation for components and systems.
- Contribute to the strategic technical roadmap for mechanical design within the organization.
- Support manufacturing and production teams during product ramp-up and ongoing production.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on complex electromechanical systems or robotics.
- Expert proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) and PDM/PLM systems.
- Strong experience with FEA and other simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL).
- Deep understanding of kinematics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Proven ability to lead complex design projects from concept to production.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills for remote work.
- Experience with precision mechanisms, motion control, and automation is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.
