Lead AI Ethics Researcher - Remote

Our client, a forward-thinking AI research lab at the forefront of responsible innovation, is seeking an experienced Lead AI Ethics Researcher to shape the future of ethical artificial intelligence. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to groundbreaking work from anywhere in the US. You will be instrumental in developing frameworks and guidelines for the ethical development and deployment of AI technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead research initiatives focused on identifying, analyzing, and mitigating ethical risks associated with AI systems, including bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics frameworks, principles, and best practices for internal teams and external partners.
  • Conduct in-depth ethical impact assessments of new AI models and applications throughout their lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with AI researchers, engineers, product managers, and legal experts to integrate ethical considerations into AI development processes.
  • Stay at the cutting edge of AI ethics research, policy, and regulatory developments globally.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier academic conferences and journals, and present at industry events.
  • Develop training materials and deliver workshops on AI ethics to educate internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of AI governance structures and oversight mechanisms.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader AI community to foster dialogue and advance the field of AI ethics.
  • Provide expert guidance on ethical challenges related to data privacy, security, and the societal impact of AI.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Philosophy, Law, Ethics, Sociology, or a related field with a specialization in AI ethics.
  • 5+ years of dedicated research experience in AI ethics, responsible AI, or a closely related area.
  • Proven track record of publishing in reputable AI ethics venues or related disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of various AI technologies (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision) and their ethical implications.
  • Experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks, policies, or guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ethical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a research or development environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory landscapes concerning AI and data.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to guide research projects and teams.
