Senior Data Scientist - Machine Learning

Our client, a cutting-edge FinTech company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist with expertise in Machine Learning to join their innovative, remote team. This role is instrumental in developing and deploying advanced ML models that drive business intelligence, optimize trading strategies, and enhance customer experiences. The ideal candidate possesses a strong theoretical foundation in statistics and machine learning, practical experience in building and deploying models in production, and proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science. You will work with large, complex datasets and collaborate with engineers and product managers to deliver data-driven solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement sophisticated machine learning models for applications such as fraud detection, risk assessment, algorithmic trading, and customer segmentation.
• Perform exploratory data analysis on large, complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
• Clean, transform, and prepare data for modeling, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and iterate on models to improve accuracy and effectiveness.
• Deploy machine learning models into production environments, collaborating closely with software engineers.
• Monitor deployed models, retrain as necessary, and ensure ongoing performance and reliability.
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science.
• Communicate complex findings and model details clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of data infrastructure and tooling to support machine learning workflows.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data science, with a strong focus on machine learning model development and deployment.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred) or R, including relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
• Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning), and their underlying principles.
• Experience working with large datasets using SQL and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach complex problems systematically.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience in the FinTech or financial services industry is a plus.
