- Conceptualize, design, and document core game mechanics, player progression systems, and level layouts.
- Create detailed design specifications, flowcharts, and wireframes for new game features and systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, artists, and producers to implement and refine game designs.
- Iterate on designs based on playtesting feedback, data analysis, and team input.
- Ensure design consistency and maintainability across the entire game project.
- Proactively identify and address design challenges and opportunities to enhance player engagement and retention.
- Contribute to the overall vision and narrative direction of the game.
- Maintain a deep understanding of current gaming trends, player preferences, and competitor titles.
- Effectively communicate design ideas and rationale to both technical and non-technical team members.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to the development process.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Game Designer on at least one shipped title, preferably in the AAA space.
- Strong portfolio showcasing game design concepts, mechanics, and documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of game design principles, including systems design, level design, and player psychology.
- Proficiency with game design documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Google Docs, Miro) and game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Passion for video games and a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python) is a plus.
- Familiarity with player analytics and A/B testing methodologies.
