- Communicate effectively with agents, brokers, and policyholders to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.
- Maintain a deep understanding of insurance products, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize underwriting software and tools to process applications efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with claims, sales, and actuarial departments to provide underwriting expertise.
- Identify and report on emerging risks and trends within assigned lines of business.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and state regulations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of risk assessment principles.
- Proficiency in relevant insurance software and systems.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to negotiate and influence.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to work independently, manage a workload effectively, and meet deadlines in a fully remote environment.
- Relevant professional designations (e.g., AIC, CPCU) are a strong asset.
