Job Description
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with specialized expertise in advanced propulsion systems. This is a fully remote, senior-level position focused on conceptualizing, designing, and validating next-generation propulsion technologies. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical design aspects of complex propulsion projects, from initial concept through to production. Duties include performing detailed CAD design and analysis (FEA, CFD), selecting materials, defining manufacturing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and systems engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, combustion, and materials science as applied to propulsion systems. Proven experience with high-performance engines, turbines, or rocket systems is essential. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical roadmaps, and play a key role in intellectual property development. Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to translate complex technical requirements into robust designs are critical. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a focus on propulsion is strongly preferred. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering, with a significant portion dedicated to advanced propulsion systems, is mandatory.
