Our client, a leader in the telecommunications industry, is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Network Security Engineer to join their fully remote cybersecurity team. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security solutions that protect the company's infrastructure and data assets. You will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities, developing security protocols, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulations. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in network security architecture, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and security best practices. You must be adept at analyzing complex network environments, implementing effective security measures, and providing timely incident response. This is a remote-first position, requiring exceptional self-management, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams. Key responsibilities include:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience in network security engineering is required. Proven expertise in enterprise network security solutions (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet) is essential. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network architecture is necessary. Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or GIAC are highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical for effective remote collaboration and incident response.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, and managing network security infrastructure, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM solutions.
- Monitoring network traffic and security events for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Conducting regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans.
- Developing and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Responding to and investigating security incidents, providing timely remediation and post-incident analysis.
- Collaborating with IT teams to ensure secure network configurations and system hardening.
- Staying current with emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
- Developing and delivering security awareness training to employees.
- Managing security-related projects from inception to completion.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant security regulations and standards.
- Contributing to the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
