Warehouse Automation Specialist (Remote)

Job Description

Our client, a leader in innovative warehousing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Automation Specialist to join their pioneering, fully remote team. This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of automated systems within modern distribution centers. You will leverage your expertise in robotics, material handling systems, and WMS integration to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety. This position requires a proactive, technically adept individual who excels in a remote-first environment and can collaborate effectively with on-site teams and management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, specify, and implement automated material handling systems, including ASRS, AGVs, robotics, and conveyor systems.
  • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams and operational procedures for automated warehouse environments.
  • Integrate automation solutions with existing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to automation hardware and software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and on-site operational staff to ensure successful project execution and deployment.
  • Develop training materials and provide remote support for on-site teams operating automated equipment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in warehouse automation and recommend adoption where appropriate.
  • Ensure all automation systems comply with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and performance for automation equipment and services.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term automation strategies for the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Science) or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling systems, or industrial automation.
  • Proven experience with ASRS, AGVs, robotics, conveyors, and other automated warehouse technologies.
  • Strong understanding of WMS and ERP system integration.
  • Proficiency in simulation software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote role.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a distributed team.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and industrial network protocols is a plus.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is advantageous.
  • Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home office setup.
