Remote Field Service Technician - Industrial Automation Systems
Job Description
Our client is a global leader in industrial automation solutions and is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Remote Field Service Technician to join their fully remote team. This position is responsible for providing remote technical support, troubleshooting, and diagnostics for a range of advanced automation systems deployed at client sites worldwide. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in industrial hardware and software to resolve complex issues efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime for our clients' operations.

- Provide expert remote technical support and troubleshooting for industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and motion control systems.
- Diagnose hardware and software issues using remote diagnostic tools, network analysis, and detailed problem-solving methodologies.
- Guide on-site personnel through troubleshooting and repair procedures via phone, video conferencing, and remote access software.
- Analyze system performance data and logs to identify root causes of failures and recommend preventative maintenance measures.
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, and customer support teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Document technical issues, solutions, and resolutions in a comprehensive knowledge base.
- Develop and deliver remote training materials for client personnel on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company's product lines, industry best practices, and emerging automation technologies.
- Ensure prompt and effective resolution of customer-reported issues, meeting defined service level agreements (SLAs).
- Proactively monitor system health and performance for key clients, identifying potential issues before they impact operations.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in field service, technical support, or maintenance of industrial automation systems.
- Strong proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
- Experience with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
- Familiarity with robotics and motion control systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively guide non-technical personnel remotely.
- Proficiency with remote access and diagnostic software tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
- Must be comfortable working non-standard hours to support global clients as needed.
