Our client, a progressive and forward-thinking engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Lead Civil Engineering Project Manager to join their fully remote team. This position is crucial for overseeing a diverse portfolio of civil infrastructure projects from conception through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a remote-first environment, possesses exceptional project management skills, and has a deep understanding of civil engineering principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all phases of civil engineering projects, including planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines, and ensure adherence to these plans.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to achieve project objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Manage project risks, identify potential issues, and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular project reviews, track progress, and provide timely status reports to stakeholders.
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Lead and mentor project engineering staff, promoting professional development and a collaborative remote work culture.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage consultant and contractor agreements.
  • Champion best practices in project management and civil engineering within the remote team structure.
  • Utilize project management software and collaboration tools effectively to ensure seamless remote operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one US state is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering project management.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex infrastructure projects (e.g., transportation, water/wastewater, site development).
  • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering design principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relevant to civil projects.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD software.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Must have a dedicated home office setup with reliable high-speed internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a strong team environment remotely.
