Lead Process Safety Engineer (Remote)

Our client, a prominent entity in the chemical industry, is seeking an experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to join their distinguished team on a fully remote basis. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive process safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. - Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems and programs.
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
- Perform risk assessments and identify potential hazards associated with chemical processes.
- Develop and implement safety procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations and government standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to employees at all levels.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all process modifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to integrate safety into all aspects of operations.
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in process safety.
- Lead and mentor junior process safety engineers and technicians.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to process safety performance and compliance.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for chemical facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and regulations.
- Proven experience conducting various types of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
- Strong understanding of chemical process design, operations, and safety systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
- Proficiency in relevant safety software and modeling tools.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote team environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) is a plus.
