Process Safety Engineer - Remote

Our client, a pioneering chemical manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team in a fully remote capacity. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processes and facilities. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive process safety programs, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, extensive knowledge of process safety regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP), and a strong commitment to fostering a safety-first culture. This position allows you to leverage your expertise from anywhere in the US, collaborating with operational teams to proactively manage risks.

- Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) programs in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
- Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate identified hazards.
- Develop and maintain safety-critical operating procedures and emergency response plans.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety to engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
- Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process for process modifications.
- Conduct safety audits and assessments of facilities and processes.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs.
- Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and evolving regulatory requirements in process safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into project design and execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process safety, with a focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR ), EPA RMP, and other relevant safety standards.
- Proven experience conducting PHAs and risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and safety systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
- Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is highly desirable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
