Senior Network Security Engineer (Remote)

Our client, a global leader in secure telecommunications solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to join their fully remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security infrastructure to protect our company's digital assets and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our network services. You will play a key part in developing and executing comprehensive security strategies, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in network protocols, cybersecurity technologies, and threat mitigation techniques. You will collaborate with IT operations, development teams, and business units to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the network architecture. This is a remote-first position, allowing you to work from anywhere while contributing to cutting-edge telecommunications security. Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level network security solutions, including firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDPS), VPNs, and security gateways.
  • Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses.
  • Monitor network traffic for security breaches and malicious activities, and respond promptly to security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans and playbooks.
  • Configure and manage security tools and technologies, ensuring optimal performance and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with IT operations and system administrators to ensure secure system configurations and patch management.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support on network security matters to internal teams.
  • Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of security awareness training programs.
  • Document network security configurations, processes, and incident reports.
  • Participate in architectural reviews to ensure new systems and applications meet security requirements.
  • Manage relationships with security vendors and service providers.
  • Develop and implement security monitoring and reporting strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in network security engineering.
  • Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet), IDPS, VPNs, and other security appliances.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems and security operations center (SOC) processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or GIAC are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and incident response skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
