Network Security Engineer (Remote)

Our client, a leading global telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Network Security Engineer to join their fully remote team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network security principles, experience with various security technologies, and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex security issues in a distributed environment. Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust network security solutions to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the organization's network infrastructure.
  • Monitor network traffic and security alerts, conducting in-depth analysis to identify and respond to potential security incidents.
  • Configure, manage, and optimize firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), VPNs, and other security devices.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans, leading the response and remediation efforts during security breaches.
  • Collaborate with network operations and IT teams to ensure the security and integrity of all network systems.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies, proactively updating security measures.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on network security best practices to internal teams.
  • Document security configurations, processes, and incident reports accurately and thoroughly.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering or a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), security frameworks, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-level firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, SIEM solutions, and VPN technologies.
  • Strong understanding of encryption technologies, authentication protocols, and access control mechanisms.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or CompTIA Security+ are a significant advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
