Remote Senior Sound Designer - Interactive Media

Our client is a cutting-edge interactive media studio seeking a talented and experienced Senior Sound Designer to join their fully remote team. This role is essential for crafting immersive audio experiences for a variety of projects, including video games, VR/AR applications, and digital installations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong artistic vision, deep technical knowledge, and a passion for innovative sound design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, record, edit, and implement high-quality sound effects, ambient environments, Foley, and musical elements for interactive projects.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, developers, directors, and other artists to define and execute the audio vision for each project.
  • Develop and maintain sound libraries and asset management systems.
  • Implement audio assets into game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) using middleware solutions (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
  • Mix and master audio for various platforms and delivery formats, ensuring optimal clarity, impact, and spatialization.
  • Troubleshoot audio-related technical issues during development and post-launch.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in audio technology, tools, and techniques within the interactive media industry.
  • Provide creative direction and technical guidance to junior sound designers and external contractors.
  • Contribute to the overall narrative and emotional impact of projects through expert use of sound.
  • Manage audio production schedules and deliverables to meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing for all audio elements.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in sound design for interactive media, with a significant portfolio showcasing game audio or VR/AR projects.
  • Proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
  • Expertise in implementing audio using game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity) and audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, psychoacoustics, and audio signal processing.
  • Excellent recording, editing, mixing, and mastering skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a keen ear for detail.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, essential for a remote environment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with music composition or scoring for media is a plus.
