Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Remote Lead Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in automotive powertrains to join their forward-thinking product development team. This is a fully remote position, offering a unique opportunity for seasoned engineers to contribute to cutting-edge projects from the comfort of their own homes across the US. You will be instrumental in the design, development, and testing of advanced powertrain systems, focusing on efficiency, performance, and emissions reduction. This role requires a deep understanding of internal combustion engines, electric vehicle powertrains, and hybrid systems, as well as expertise in simulation and analysis tools.

As a Lead Engineer, you will mentor junior engineers, guide project technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing. You will be responsible for ensuring that designs meet stringent performance requirements, regulatory standards, and cost targets. This position demands strong leadership qualities, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex technical challenges. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies and have a significant impact on the future of automotive mobility. Proficiency in CAD software, FEA, CFD, and data acquisition systems is essential. You must be adept at communicating technical information to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and validation of automotive powertrain components and systems.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and project direction.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions for improving powertrain efficiency, performance, and durability.
  • Utilize advanced simulation and analysis tools (FEA, CFD) to predict and optimize component behavior.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate powertrain systems into vehicle platforms.
  • Define and execute testing procedures for powertrain components and systems, both in simulation and physical testing.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and project status updates.
  • Manage project timelines and resources to ensure on-time delivery of milestones.
  • Stay abreast of emerging powertrain technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive powertrain design and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of internal combustion engines, electric powertrains, and hybrid systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, Star-CCM+).
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical vibrations.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and powertrain testing methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the US and comfortable with independent remote work.
