Remote Principal Industrial Engineer, Process Optimization
Job Description
Our client, a global leader in industrial manufacturing and operations, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Industrial Engineer to join their distributed, remote-first engineering team. This role is pivotal in driving significant improvements in operational efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction through advanced process analysis and optimization. You will leverage your deep expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, simulation modeling, and supply chain principles to tackle complex challenges and implement transformative solutions across the organization. This is a remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US.

- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale process improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt level preferred), and Theory of Constraints.
- Develop and utilize advanced simulation models to analyze complex manufacturing and supply chain systems, identify bottlenecks, and test optimization strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive time and motion studies, workflow analysis, and facility layout designs.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting mechanisms to track operational performance and project progress.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and cross-functional teams on best practices in industrial engineering and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and product development teams to integrate engineering solutions into business strategy.
- Identify opportunities for automation, technology adoption, and digital transformation within operational processes.
- Develop business cases for capital investments related to process improvements and equipment upgrades.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in industrial engineering, manufacturing technologies, and operations management.
- Present findings, recommendations, and project outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Ph.D. is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, operations management, or process improvement, with a strong focus on manufacturing or complex supply chains.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering significant operational improvements and cost savings.
- Expertise in Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (certification strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic, FlexSim) and advanced statistical analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and facility planning.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage projects in a remote setting.
- Experience with ERP systems and data analytics platforms is highly desirable.
