P
Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer (Remote)
Job Description
Our client, a leader in advanced aerospace technology, is looking for a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This role is fully remote, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the US. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of complex mechanical systems for cutting-edge aerospace applications. You will lead the definition of system requirements, architecture, and interfaces, ensuring mechanical systems meet stringent performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Key responsibilities include performing detailed analysis, including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analysis, using advanced simulation tools. You will develop and validate mechanical designs through prototyping, testing, and empirical data analysis. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, is crucial to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into the overall system. The Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical roadmaps, and identify innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges. Experience with aerospace materials, manufacturing processes (including advanced composites and additive manufacturing), and associated testing protocols is essential. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN) is required. A Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is highly preferred, along with a minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in mechanical systems design and analysis within the aerospace or defense industry. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills are necessary. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-impact, pioneering projects from a remote location.
