This critical role demands exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and process improvement methodologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale warehouse operations, driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and safety, all within a distributed or remote management framework. You will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse activities, developing and implementing operational strategies, setting performance metrics, and ensuring adherence to best practices across all logistics functions. This includes managing inventory levels, optimizing stock placement, streamlining receiving and shipping processes, and coordinating with transportation providers. A key aspect of this role will be the ability to effectively manage and motivate a geographically dispersed team through strong communication, technology utilization, and performance management. You will leverage data analytics to identify bottlenecks, forecast demand, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Experience with WMS implementation and optimization is highly desirable. - Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize warehouse operations, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and service levels.
- Oversee all aspects of warehouse management, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, shipping, and inventory control.
- Implement and manage Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to enhance accuracy and productivity.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for warehouse operations and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a remote team of warehouse supervisors and staff.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., procurement, sales, customer service) and external partners (e.g., carriers, suppliers).
- Manage operational budgets and control expenses effectively.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues and discrepancies promptly.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in logistics and warehouse management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in warehouse and logistics management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and their implementation/optimization.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale warehouse operations and drive significant improvements in efficiency and cost savings.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and logistics best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing remote teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
