Senior Process Engineer - Remote Automation
Job Description
Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes. You will leverage your expertise in industrial engineering principles and automation technologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety across production lines. The position demands a deep understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and various automation platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, to identify areas for improvement and develop innovative solutions. This is a remote-first opportunity, requiring a self-motivated individual with excellent communication and project management skills. Responsibilities include:
- Analyzing existing manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Designing and developing automated systems and solutions for production lines.
- Selecting and integrating appropriate automation hardware and software.
- Developing and implementing process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
- Creating and maintaining detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Leading troubleshooting efforts for process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborating with equipment vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and integration of new technologies.
- Conducting process simulations and validation studies to verify performance.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Staying abreast of the latest advancements in manufacturing automation and process engineering.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Managing projects from conception through implementation, ensuring adherence to budget and timeline.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering and automation within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing successful automation projects.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, SCADA systems, and other automation technologies.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and project management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and experience mentoring engineers.
