Senior Industrial Process Engineer - Remote Automation

Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Senior Industrial Process Engineer to lead and execute projects focused on automation and process optimization within a fully remote capacity. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a distributed work environment and possesses a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles applied to manufacturing and production systems. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and continuously improving highly efficient and cost-effective production processes, with a strong emphasis on leveraging technology and automation. Your primary focus will be on enhancing operational performance, reducing waste, and ensuring seamless integration of automated systems, all while working from your home office.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing industrial processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness, specifically focusing on automation opportunities.
  • Design and develop new automated manufacturing processes and systems, considering factors like throughput, safety, and maintainability.
  • Develop detailed process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for automated systems.
  • Oversee the implementation and commissioning of automated equipment and control systems, often in collaboration with remote technical teams and on-site personnel.
  • Conduct time and motion studies, capacity planning, and bottleneck analysis for production lines.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and existing processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in process improvement initiatives, utilizing methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex process-related issues, providing remote support and guidance.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on process optimization and automation best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for process engineering initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial process engineering, with a significant focus on automation and manufacturing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automated production lines and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of control systems, PLC programming concepts, and robotics integration is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools.
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams remotely.
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently and deliver results in a remote setting.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and their integration with manufacturing processes.
