Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Remote Head Chef / Catering Operations Lead to spearhead their virtual catering initiatives and manage culinary operations remotely. This unique role is designed for a creative culinary professional who can design exceptional menus, oversee food preparation logistics from a distance, and ensure the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. You will be responsible for developing and executing diverse catering menus, managing supplier relationships, and guiding kitchen teams through remote direction. The ideal candidate has a strong background in professional cooking and catering management, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead and inspire culinary excellence virtually. Responsibilities include:
  • Designing and developing creative and appealing catering menus for a wide range of events and dietary needs, adapting them for remote execution.
  • Providing detailed recipes, preparation instructions, and plating guides for contracted kitchen staff.
  • Sourcing high-quality ingredients and managing relationships with food suppliers and vendors.
  • Overseeing the entire catering process from menu planning and food preparation to delivery and client feedback, primarily through remote management.
  • Ensuring all food preparation adheres to strict food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP principles).
  • Managing catering budgets and controlling food costs effectively.
  • Collaborating with event planners and clients to understand their specific requirements and preferences.
  • Training and supervising remote kitchen staff or partner kitchens to ensure consistent quality and execution.
  • Troubleshooting any issues that arise during the catering process, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Staying current with culinary trends, new ingredients, and innovative catering techniques.
  • Developing operational procedures for remote catering execution.
Qualifications:
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional chef training.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in high-volume catering or a similar culinary leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage culinary operations remotely and direct kitchen teams from a distance.
  • Expertise in menu development, food costing, and inventory management.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
