Job Description
Our client is seeking an innovative and driven Remote Consumer Goods Product Development Engineer to conceptualize, design, and bring to market new and improved consumer products. This fully remote position allows you to work from your home office, collaborating with a talented team across the country. You will play a crucial role in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to testing and manufacturing liaison. Expertise in material science, CAD software, and understanding of consumer trends will be vital for success in this role.

- Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation.
- Generate product concepts, sketches, and detailed 3D CAD models using relevant software.
- Develop and manage product specifications, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and performance targets.
- Design and execute rigorous product testing protocols to validate performance, durability, and safety.
- Collaborate with external vendors and manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturability and quality control.
- Work closely with marketing and sales teams to ensure product meets market demands and consumer expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during development or production.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design files, BOMs, and test reports.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of product development processes and methodologies.
- Engage actively in virtual team meetings and collaborative platforms to ensure seamless remote operation.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Material Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in product development, specifically within the consumer goods sector.
- Proven experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
- Strong understanding of materials commonly used in consumer products and their properties.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
- Experience with prototyping methods and product testing procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote work environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively from a remote location.
