Job Description

Our client, a fast-growing and innovative beauty company, is seeking an experienced Senior Skincare Product Developer to join their fully remote team. This role is critical in conceptualizing, formulating, and bringing to market high-quality skincare products that meet consumer demands and brand standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, formulation techniques, regulatory requirements, and current skincare trends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the formulation and development of new and innovative skincare products, from concept to commercialization.
  • Conduct research on new ingredients, technologies, and market trends to identify product opportunities.
  • Develop product formulations that meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage stability, efficacy, and safety testing protocols for new product formulations.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing, regulatory, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot formulation challenges and optimize existing products.
  • Prepare detailed formulation documentation, including ingredient lists, manufacturing instructions, and technical reports.
  • Oversee pilot batches and scale-up processes with manufacturing partners.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and other relevant industry standards.
  • Stay current with advancements in cosmetic science and ingredient technology.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and external partners.
  • Evaluate raw materials and supplier performance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in skincare product development and formulation.
  • Deep understanding of cosmetic chemistry, ingredient functions, and formulation principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching skincare products.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and cosmetic industry standards.
  • Experience with stability testing, efficacy claims substantiation, and safety assessments.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and formulation equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Passion for skincare and a keen awareness of market trends and consumer preferences.
