Our client, a renowned name in the interactive entertainment industry, is seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Senior Sound Designer & Audio Engineer to join their esteemed studio. This on-site position in Denver, Colorado, US is pivotal in crafting immersive auditory experiences for cutting-edge video games. The ideal candidate will possess a masterful understanding of sound design principles, audio engineering, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and game audio middleware. You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and mixing all aspects of game audio, including sound effects, foley, ambient environments, and potentially voice-over direction. This role demands exceptional artistic talent, technical acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary game development team.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, create, and edit a wide range of sound effects for games, including environmental, Foley, UI, weapon, and character sounds.
  • Record, process, and mix audio assets to create immersive and compelling soundscapes.
  • Implement audio assets into the game engine using industry-standard middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to ensure audio elements enhance gameplay and narrative.
  • Mix game audio for various platforms and formats, ensuring high-quality sound fidelity and balance.
  • Develop and maintain audio pipelines and workflows for efficient asset creation and integration.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior sound designers and audio engineers.
  • Contribute to the overall audio direction and vision of game projects.
  • Manage audio assets, libraries, and documentation.
  • Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in game audio design and technology.
  • Troubleshoot audio-related issues during development and post-launch.
  • Potentially direct voice actors and oversee voice recording sessions.
  • Ensure audio meets technical specifications and quality standards for all target platforms.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Sound Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in game sound design and audio engineering, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality work.
  • Expert proficiency in one or more industry-standard DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro).
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with game audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
  • Familiarity with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Strong understanding of audio principles, acoustics, signal processing, and mixing techniques.
  • Experience with audio middleware implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent critical listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of interactive audio.
  • Experience with procedural audio generation is a plus.
