Senior Logistics Manager - Remote

Job Description

Our client, a national leader in e-commerce fulfillment and supply chain solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Logistics Manager to join their expanding operations team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the US. You will be responsible for optimizing and managing complex transportation networks, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the logistics function. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, advanced analytical skills, and a proven ability to lead remote teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategies to optimize national and international transportation networks, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and service level improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day logistics operations, including carrier management, freight auditing, routing, and tracking of shipments.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement; implement data-driven solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Lead and mentor a remote team of logistics coordinators and analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., warehouse operations, procurement, customer service) to ensure seamless supply chain integration.
  • Develop and manage logistics budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting the logistics landscape.
  • Implement and manage transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software solutions.
  • Develop contingency plans and crisis management strategies for potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior management on logistics performance.
  • Drive initiatives for sustainability and environmental responsibility within the logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and customs requirements.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement within the logistics function.
  • Facilitate effective communication and problem-solving across geographically dispersed teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with a strong emphasis on transportation.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex transportation networks.
  • Expertise in carrier negotiation, freight management, and international shipping.
  • Proficiency with TMS software and other supply chain technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate remote teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with import/export regulations and customs procedures.
  • Strong understanding of Lean or Six Sigma principles for process improvement.
  • Ability to develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote setting.
  • A strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
