Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with strong electrical engineering expertise to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and drive the successful transition of electronic and electro-mechanical products from design into scalable production.

This role bridges electrical design, manufacturing, and test engineering , ensuring PCBAs and electronic systems are fully manufacturable, testable, and production-ready. The ideal candidate has strong experience in PCBA interpretation, electrical test development, DFM/DFT, and production ramp-up support in electronics or high-reliability manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support product transition from design to manufacturing with R&D, electrical engineering, and supply chain teams
  • Participate in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Test) reviews
  • Support prototype builds, pilot production, and full-scale manufacturing ramp-up
  • Ensure manufacturability and testability of electronic and electro-mechanical systems

Electrical Test & Manufacturing Engineering

  • Develop and optimize PCBA assembly and electrical test processes
  • Design and implement functional test systems, test fixtures, and automated test equipment (ATE)
  • Support debugging, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for electrical failures
  • Improve yield, reliability, test coverage, and production efficiency using lean principles

Technical Data Package (TDP) Ownership

  • Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and specifications
  • Translate engineering documentation into production-ready instructions
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all electrical manufacturing data
  • Serve as technical support for PCBA and electrical documentation questions

Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with contract manufacturers and PCBA suppliers for qualification and support
  • Support supplier onboarding and technical issue resolution
  • Collaborate with quality, procurement, and design engineering teams
  • Provide training and technical guidance on electrical assembly and testing

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with strong electrical experience
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in electronics, PCBA, or electro-mechanical systems
  • Strong experience supporting NPI from prototype through production ramp-up
  • Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs
  • Experience developing electrical test systems, fixtures, and instrumentation setups
  • Hands-on familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators)
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCBA suppliers
  • Proficiency with ECAD/CAD tools (Altium, OrCAD) and PDM/PLM systems (Autodesk Vault, SolidWorks PDM)
  • Familiarity with ERP/PLM systems

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-2221)
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and test software (LabVIEW or similar)
  • Hands-on electronics troubleshooting, soldering, and rework experience
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC and compliance testing
  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement certification

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong background in electronics manufacturing, PCBA production, or electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience in DFM/DFT implementation and manufacturing process optimization
  • Proven ability to support product launches, test development, and production scale-up
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environments
  • Experience in high-reliability industries (aerospace, defense, medical devices, industrial controls) is a plus
