Job Description
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician to join their fully remote team, providing crucial support for industrial automation systems across various client sites. This role requires extensive travel to customer locations to perform installations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on complex machinery and control systems. As a remote employee, you will manage your own schedule and travel logistics, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery. Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and software issues with automated equipment, calibrating systems, and performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. You will be responsible for conducting system upgrades and modifications as needed, working closely with clients to understand their operational needs and provide technical guidance. Maintaining accurate service logs, documenting all work performed, and reporting on equipment status are essential. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and other industrial automation components. Experience with network troubleshooting in an industrial setting is also beneficial. You must be comfortable working independently, possess excellent problem-solving abilities, and have strong customer service and communication skills. A willingness to travel extensively (often with short notice) and work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, is required. - Install, maintain, and repair industrial automation systems and equipment at client sites.
- Perform diagnostic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration to ensure system reliability.
- Execute system upgrades and modifications as required.
- Provide technical support and training to clients.
- Document all service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used.
- Travel extensively to customer locations across the assigned region.
- Manage service schedule and logistics independently.
- Identify opportunities for service enhancements and client support improvements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in field service, maintenance, or repair of industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
- Experience with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
