In this remote leadership role, you will be instrumental in shaping the design direction for a variety of building typologies, with a particular focus on integrating sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and biophilic design elements. You will collaborate closely with engineers, consultants, and construction professionals, ensuring that sustainability goals are met throughout the design and construction lifecycle. Your expertise in sustainable building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL) and advanced design technologies will be crucial. The ability to inspire and guide design teams remotely, foster collaboration, and communicate design intent effectively will be key to your success.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design process for architectural projects, from conceptualization through construction documentation, with a focus on sustainability.
  • Develop and implement innovative sustainable design strategies, including passive design, renewable energy integration, and water conservation.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers and architects, fostering a collaborative and creative remote work environment.
  • Prepare and present design concepts, renderings, and technical documentation to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with structural, MEP, and civil engineers, as well as sustainability consultants, to integrate systems effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainable building standards (e.g., LEED, WELL).
  • Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies, integrating site-specific sustainability opportunities.
  • Stay current with advancements in sustainable building materials, technologies, and design methodologies.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets related to the design phase.
  • Review construction submittals and respond to RFIs during the construction administration phase.
  • Champion the integration of biophilic design principles to enhance occupant well-being.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge base on sustainable design practices and technologies.

Qualifications:
  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
  • NCARB certification and eligibility for architectural licensure in multiple states is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of architectural design experience, with a significant focus on sustainable design.
  • Proven experience leading architectural design projects from concept to completion.
  • Expertise in sustainable design principles and certifications (LEED AP, WELL AP).
  • Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of building science, energy modeling, and life cycle assessment principles.
  • Excellent graphic communication, presentation, and client management skills.
  • Experience working effectively in a remote or distributed team environment.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Passion for creating high-performance, environmentally responsible architecture.
